I have heard some people use bird netting. It had wider spacing than normal screen like for windows and doors.

I currently am using window screen. Works well but does block some light. I am going to switch to bird netting.

I guess I didn't notice bc I had a AI Hydra 26 HD on a 40gal AIO.

The clear netting from BRS - even the 1/8" stuff - blocks very little light.

I've checked with my par meter previously and it was such a small amount I stopped even worrying about it.

I'll post a handful of real numbers tonight with par meter sitting still and screen top removed & in place.

BRS 1/8" clear netting on DIY aluminum frames bock about 20 - 25 PAR max.

I'm using the Apogee sensor most people are using - I'm under reef brite copies plus a 400w metal halide - about 18" under the halide in 10" of water when taking that measurement.

PAR without the top in place was 340 - with the top PAR was 325.

25 par is worth saving fish IMO
