I have a green star which I think I bleached out (had it at the top). It still has about 30% of the polyps however they are very light in color. Hair algea is slowly taking over. Is there anything I can do? I have moved it up and down midway to the top under MH.

First, figure out why you have hair algae in the tank!

Have you moved it recently?

I fragged a piece of my star polyp a few days ago, and it hasn't openned up since, but I'm sure its fine.

Water tests?

Lighting change?

After you figure out why it is there, Scrub it lightly with a tooth brush, you will have to do this a couple times but it works.

I am not sure if it is hair algae. But it some kind of green algae. And I'm sure its because I overfeed my Fish :).

The green star will survive the toothbrush scrubbing?

Mine are at the bottom of my 24g AP (150w MH) and are growing like weeds. I've only had them for a few weeks and they've grown by 50%.

I've kept my Star polyps in the corner of my tank laying on the substrate, clued to a rock, with little to no direct light. I've had slow to moderate growth.
