I have a ric and a mushroom. It looks like they both scoot along the rock (very slowly) and where they were originally located, a new mini-me grows. Is that how they typically spread? I always thought that they would split.

I've had the same question as one of my ricordia has 3-4 mouths.

I have shrooms that have done that, and some that just split. As for Rics. I can't say mine has done noting but sit there.... I think I am going to take it out and cut it up... that way I can get some more...

my blue ric had a second mouth develope and eventually it split...no budding.

I had a lot of mushrooms "bud" for lack of a better word they created a new section by growing it out of the first kind of like a zoa, but all my ricordias split. I never saw them start a new one without first splitting.

I have a Ric that "deposited" a baby the same way Chauwall described. It's really tiny, maybe 1 or 2 mm.

I second that, as soon as mine had two mouths that had a bit of space in between, I cut it. It's doing great and i'm anticipating it to split again soon!
