It's time to buy a skimmer and this is the one that seems to fit my budget and needs. Any experience with this skimmer? Or suggestions for a better model in the same price range?

Another option but very similar and the same price.

the last new skimmer i bought was reef octopus DNWB 150 and it kicked butt

what are the opinions on internal vs external

I have run both internal and external skimmers (in sump out of sump). IMO IN SUMP is the way to go if you have the room. You don't have to run an extra drain from the cup... and worry about it overfilling into your stand. The skimmers generally run a little quieter in sump too....

down sides? A little heat added from the pump, you have to get the skimmer at the right water level for it to work properly meaning you may have to add a riser, or raise or lower the water level in the skimmer chamber of the sump.

I would consider the askoll pump based Octopus skimmers. They are very quiet pumps.
