switching salt brands

I'm switching from RC to HW marine mix, I've heard 2 different ways to switch, slow with normal water changes or do a couple 50% water changes, i was over the weekend do 3 water changes of 50%. would love to hear what everyones thoughts are on this

Do you happen to know what the Alk, Calcium and Mag levels are for the HW Marine mix? If they are comprable you prob can speed up the change over a little faster. Otherwise I would go slow with the change over. It maybe a good idea to go slow anyhow.

I'd say it depends on why you are changing it.
Personally, I change 20% of my water weekly, I would just continue to do that. Seems like a waste of money to change 50% three times in 2 days. Well, maybe not in a 5g tank.

Nothing good ever happens fast. Just switch to the new salt gradually with regular water changes.

The last thing you need is a parameter shift.

Awesome thanks, I'm going to just use my auto water change and add it in there. Y'all are right slow is the key.

I'm going back to RC from salinity to save a little cash since I been upping my water change frequency.
