Reefers, why is "skimming wet" not as effective as "skimming dry". It seems like both methods pull out the same amount?

That's a good question... I typically run mine on the dry side for a couple of reasons... 1. My collection cup is on the small side and when I run it wet, I have to empty it almost every day... 2. I like doing equal water changes... when I run wet, after several water changes I have to add more water or my salinity goes down due to auto top off...

Here is what I think I remember... Skimming wet pulls less concentrated skimmate but more faster.. Dry is more concentrated but less abundent over the same amount of time

Skimming wet insures you get more gunk out of the water, but causes you to empty the receptical more.

By skimming wet, you know you are getting everything that skimmer can get

Skimming wet or dry will not skim the water any better or worse. Wet skimming will merely pull out more saltwater with the waste it is removing. This can lead to consequent salinity issues if not monitored.

That's what I was trying to say, but I was much less eloquent...
