1" drain & 1" return?

My drain is 1" and my return bulkhead is 3/4" but I mistakenly bought a 1" Y valve for my return. Can I still plumb my return for 1" but reduce to 3/4" at the bulkhead without consequence? Will there be any flow or noise issues? Thanks for your help.

I've done it before and never had any issues.

Reducing will only increase the pressure of the return stream, but it won’t impact the tank substantially.

You're fine as long as you are OK with the slightly reduced flow you'll get - rarely is that a concern unless your return pump is already undersized and/or you have a long run.
