Yeah... thats why I turn my return off for 10 minutes when feeding frozen... so that all the tank inhabitants get what they can out of the water column before it goes to the sump and sits on the bottom.

You have a good point. I should be getting my reef keeper 2 back from repairs mid week this week so I'll set a feeding time on it to shut down my return pump. I assume having my power head on shouldn't be a problem right? Should I also set a feeding time to shut down my skimmer when I feed my coral PT? I hear that the skimmer tanks most of it out when you pour PT in the tank.
you should leave the powerheads running for sure so that you can keep any food suspended as long as possible so that fish eat it instead of it ending up on the sandbed.
As for PT... Are you talking about Phyto? Or am I missing something? If so, when you dose phyto I usually (or used to) shut down my skimmer for an hour or so.

yea I was talking about phyto. When you shut down your skimmer like that for an hour, does it take it awhile for the bubbles to stablize and start skimming? I always have problems when I mess with my skimmer.

I didnt, but how often are you feeding phyto? I dont think it'd be a good idea to shut down the skimmer too often or then it would likely start affecting it. Others more knowledgeable than me might chime in here...
I have never shut down my skimmer when I feed phyto because im scared of it affecting the skimming as well. I guess I'll just leave it on now and start a new thread to see if someone has other experience with it
