125 build

Hey everyone,

Wife and I got into hobby a little over a year ago. After fighting the struggles of a canister filter we went all in on our new 125. I'd like to post some pics and update some on how its going. Plus I've ran into small questions along the way that would appreciate any help on. Will list the equipment first and post pictures from my phone.

Canopy we made ourselves
125 gallon drilled 2 middle overflows
Ruby 30 Elite trigger sump
Ecotech Vectra M1 return pump
2 Radion xr30w pro's lighting
Apex Gold setup
Super Reef Octopus xp 1000 ( used I bought from old member)

Currently 2 crappy power heads from around the house nothing special I plan on upgrading to mp40s in a few weeks
2 random heaters nothing special


Few questions I'm having.

For those of you with living room tanks, how loud is it? How much can you hear from the couch? Is plumbing/setup causing the noise?
Microbubbles. I've got tiny bubbles inside the display. You can't see them until the blues really come on or your really close.

Plus any general suggestions comments on our project so far.

Pics will be what's current I plan on changing the aquascape a bit by moving bottom rocks forward and top rocks back so it doesn't produce as much shading as it has now.

I can't tell, but it sounds like a lot of splashing. Is the drain going below the water line in the sump? Also, I see a waterfall coming from the skimmer section that looks to be a lot of water splashing.

There is water splashing into the sumps. I do have pvc going down below the water level but it kept making a gurgling noise. So I drilled holes throughout the pvc to make it muffle the gurgle. I also in cased that pvc with another pvc which reduced some of the splash/noise.

Currently there is a small waterfall going from skimmer section but I can't tell if that's making noise.

I think the problem is on the right return it comes straight down from tank which makes too much water. I added a valve to slow it down but still splashes or gurgles.

what return pump do you have? maybe dial that down? I'm sure most people won't recommend putting a valve on the drain due to possible clogging, unless you have a free open emergency drain.
