Starting a build thread for my 15 gallon frag tank. The dimensions are 23 long x 15 1/2 wide x 10 tall. I plan on drilling it (first time :fingersx:) and installing an internal overflow box. It will be plumbed into my DT sump/refugium.

I see the black silicone in the tank and I see the GE tube sitting in the gun, question..... is it type 2?
not sure I would want to use that for frags, the mold inhibitors they put in it would leach out slowly over time in the water, type one is what you want to use which is food grade safe.
just saying...

It is type II...... Guess I should have done more research on it first. Thank for the heads up. Well guess tomorrow when it's cured it will be tear down day instead of leak test.

sorry to cause you pain but figured after all that when corals start to die, you'll never figure out what's causing it at that point, also lowes and homedepot don't carry black type 1, only clear.
I usually have to order black or call around to the lfs to see who has black in stock.

Do you know of any black silicone that is safe. I saw DAP had some black as well?

non that they carry in store, it has to be 100% silicone with no additives which is only type one.
when i'm working in big tanks I use rtv103 that I order from mcmaster carr.
I would save yourself a lot of trouble and just go with the clear unless you really want the black.
both store carry the GE type 1 clear, they don't carry the black and both don't carry DAP type 1.
only challenge would be cleaning the glass to do it in clear.

So saw that they have a grainger store here local and they carry the black McMaster rtv103
