150 gallon planning stages.

I recently purchases a 150 gallon acrylic tank. Was wondering how much return pump I need. And if two 250w halides will be enough.
Dimensions 60x24x24. The reason for only two halides is the tank has to holes cut in the top about 20x16 each. And how much flow for the closed loop. Taking my time just trying to get all the equipment together.

I rule of thumb that I was told by a respected sponsor was that you want 10x the DT water volume as a return and 10x more through powerheads/closed loop/etc.

Just thought I would share.

i have a 150 gall. tank and use a reeflo super dart gold pump for the return (also supplies the chiller) and run 2 400w radiums with great growth. in the tank i run a mp40 and 2 koralia 3's just to give you an idea

yep. id go LED also. plan on switching over when my bulbs are shot. i run the asm G3 skimmer and its a beast. my sump is a 40 breeder and works great

So the concensus is led. I am going to use a 55 gallon I have laying around for a sump. And I think my friend had a mr-2 he wants to sell.
