18w UV too much???

I have an 18W turbo-twist laying around that I forgot I had. So, I am trying to figure out if I am stupid for wanting to plumb it into the soon to be 45G tank I am getting this week or not.

They are rated up to 250 gallons which is way over-rated IMO, but is it still overkill?

Stupid? Or should I just throw it in there to raise up my power nbill a little more!

That uv is hardly capable of handling a 250w tank. I think you're dead on with your 45g though. I would most definately add it.

Thats what I thought. I had it on a 90, and it seemed like it wasnt enough, but I just thought I was being critical.

Yup my plan is to plumb it into the return on the new tank like I had it on my 90. I'll add a small valve to it to slow the flow to a crawl.

Goog idea. I did that once with the 90 but caught it before the bulb overheated.
