anyone have any tips?

I have an RO/DI but not sure if I could be of any real help. I would suggest that you first start by posting what manufacturer you have first. Perhaps then someone who has the same system could assist you. GL

There are only 3 hoses you need to worry about.

New Water.
Good Water.
Waste Water.

New comes from your water source. You tap into it.
Good water comes out the unit, you put that into a jug, trashcan, tank, etc.
Waste water goes into the drain.

so basically forget the instructions and fig out how to get water flowing into the unit?
also, I need to tap into the water pipe? or get some kind of adapter correct?

There should be everything needed in your kit if its a new unit. Takes a little common sense, and about 20 mins of work and I had mine running with no instructions.
