Putting together an a smaller tank in my home office. Building my basement bar, so going to sell my 120 soon. I want to build the bar first and not have to build around the larger tank.

I was going to build the stand with all the lumber, but after pricing the lumber and the prices. My wife suggested getting a cabinet and reinforcing it, genius!

So, got the stand almost together. I'm going to put together a controller panel, like on my other tank. I was going to put heavy duty drawer slides to allow the canopy top to slide up and down. But they kept locking up. I returned a pair to Amazon and then they sent me a replacement set and they did it again. So the canopy will be fixed.

Want to build 1 more for the IM 50 Lagoon, that looks amazing!
Lol, thanks for the kind words. Between work and a recent family medical diagnosis. I'm hoping I can finish this one in a week. I am really bummed that the slides didn't work put. Funny I built this one to support the 50 gallon Lagoon for a future upgrade. 😀

Got the lights in, tank should be up and running tomorrow.

Just wondering, why MH as main lighting of choice? Nonetheless, great set up!
I've always had great results with halides, I mean coloration as well as explosive growth and no shadowing. But of course there are so many factors (parameters etc).

But I know great results can be achieved with LEDs as well. Those examples are everywhere. But honestly, I had the halides of my 120 and didn't want to waste them lol. They have basically me bulbs. But I seriously considering ordering the Orphek iCon compact. To replace the halide.

Gotcha. I never ran halides myself. I think when I got into the hobby, LEDs were just being introduced, but I couldn't afford it and started with t5s, but that became a hassle with bulb replacement. Ended up going with LEDs some time down the years and supplemented with t5s, but dropped t5s altogether as LEDs became full spectrum. I just didn't like whole replacing the bulb annually, but I guess in your case, its just a single bulb vs several bulbs in t5s.

Looking good tho and I'm sure it will def grow some corals. Thanks for the updates!

Ok, a little update. I finally got some time to install the light. I went with the Orphek Icon compact. I also got my dosing setup started and put in place.i used the leftover drawer parts. But I couldn't be normal my wife says. So, I went all Dr Frankenstein. I left the ability to add another reef dose two for a food source, and Nitrate and Phosphate.

Think it’s for glowing LED. I wonder if any light or heat source can mess with the chemistry of the bottles? Probably not.

I also had same question when I sow it. Lol.

It is a set of small puck leds from Amazon. They are remote controlled and zero heat lol. They were $20 and came with triple A batteries also! I couldn't help myself.

I reviewed a post by Randy Holmes the chemist on R2R and there would be no issue with light source affecting the chemistry of the products.

Plus, I only turn them on when I want to show off to myself ha ha ha.
