So I have been looking at sumps to buy and I seem to like a 3 chamber type.

I am wondering if I could build the same thing out of an old 29g aga?

I would Like to make it so water leaves tank, falls through filter sock into one chamber, chamber 2 will hold skimmer and reactor(s) 3rd chamber return

Do I need all the chambers? am I better off buying one prebuilt? Where can I find the acrylic to build it.

Anyone done this or have instructions?

Edit: Mods move to DIY please.... forgot we had that section

I posted a DIY a while back for a sump for this size tank. It was a knockoff of an MRC sump with a slow flow refugium.

Wow thats nice! Not sure I have that level of skill in working with acrylic.
Might have to rethink this :)

Thanks for sharing.

That's exactly how I done my sump . Three chambers just make the baffles for the depth you won't the skimmer at . Mine works great and was really easy to do .

It works great! I am using a maxi jet 400 for the refug right now but I may change it to a 600. I really like the filter sock holder!!!

That's great you are getting good use out of it.

Very nice! Did you only use a table saw or were there other means of cutting? I have been using a jig saw with laminate flooding blades. Long cuts take for ever and only patience creates a straight line.
