Do you guys think this fixture is overkill for a 40b?

I'm debating starting yet another tank with things I have laying around.

I think you would be fine. I would just dial back the time on the halides to 3 or so hours a day. But you would be able to grow anything you want.... Lol

Well overkill is a relative term... Depends on what you are trying to do. In any case that is definitely a lot of light. You would need to have everything in check not to grow algae. And I agree you would probably have to play around with the lighting schedule to make it work.

I'm thinking I'll save the fixture for another tank lol. I don't want to have to run a chiller
