Amazing....didn't really read the post..But anyone know how long the lights last? Is it 4 pm. to 8 pm?

Awesome. I read most of the post... All I have to say is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$^10

The coldwater is awesome. If it wasn't so difficult to obtain the livestock, I'd probably look into that more.

More like 8 am to 8 pm in the summer. You should read the post, very interesting. He's also using a 10 kw solar system to offset his reef tank and koi pond.

Make sure you check out the cold water reef too: [IMG]http://oregonreef.com/sub_coldwater.htm">http://oregonreef.com/sub_coldwater.htm</a>
That was a nice tank. I read somewhere that it crashed.

Here's another of my favorites. I'm in the planning stages of moving up to a custom 150g Starphire braceless next January, modeled after some of these.

The skimmers were working to well and kept overflowing while his top kept dumping fresh water into the system. He lost most of his SPS and I believe a lot of fish. It's still up, though. I think he's working on bringing it back to full glory. ;)

The cold water reefs weren't affected, as far as I know.

Wow! that sucks. I guess the lesson is to have your skimmer hooked up to something that will shut it down before it drains too much of your tank.
I have kept my tanks skimmerless for the past 11 years, but I just decided to add one and I was thinking of this very problem. I travel a lot and need to come up with a way to shut down the skimmer before it overflows the collection jug. I think I might get one of the MRC wast collectors.

oops! I'm looking at the 200g AGE with the pvc bottom and glass sides.
Seventh post down. Same footprint, 60x30, but only 20in high. For a total of 155.8g.
I'm looking at having a built in external wave box as well as a closed loop and 2 external overflows on the far back corners of the tank.
