70w Metal Halide Users

Do you use a 70w MH bulb? If so, what brand/color temp is it, and do you like it?

I'm using a Ushio 10k bulb at the moment. No, I don't care for it. I would like to give the Astralux 14k a try, but I can't find a retailer.

The light I purchased has a plusrite 20k(ebay?) and just don't like it at all. I had a sunpod at onetime with a stock 15k bulb that wasn't too bad.


Does anyone here have an extra 70 watt'er laying around that you would like to trade a frag for? I'd like to take some color comparison pictures.

Thats part of the reason why I haven't decided if I want to mod my new BIOCUBE 29 for a 70 watt or 150 watt halide. There aren't really any bulb selections for 70w.

This light came off my friends 29g biocube. I traded it with the 150w that I had purchased from Jin to help him out and upgrade my pico at the same time. I can assure you that you will not be happy with a 70w anything over your biocube:boo: It's just not enough light.

On the other hand... It's perfect for my pico!

I have to disagree. I got awsome color and great growth out of a 70w ushio 14k modded into the hood of a biocube 29 along with the PC's Now I would agree that if the stock PC's were not there then that would be a correct statement. I have since sold the biocube so I cant give you any par readings but I got as much growth out of my SPS with that setup as I do with a 250 over my oceanic 30 cube

I would not do a 150 mod in the biocube hood unless you have some awsome fans and a chiller

I gave Sammy the contact info for the Astralux distributor, still hoping that he will start selling them.
