Just started this tank 5 months ago. It's a 75 gallon marineland tank that I had converted into a reef ready tank. I've got two kessil a360x's and about 80 pounds of Carib sea shapes rock. I'm using a pro clear aquatics sump with a ball of chaeto that has been keeping me at almost 0 nutrients without even using my skimmer.

You should watch out with running near zero nutrients....I did that with a new build and had a run in with dinoflagellates. And a few others have done so as well because we ran out refugiums to early.

I know what you mean. I've been trying to overfeed to compensate but it hasn't been helping. I may just end up taking the chaeto out for now

Looking good, I miss the feeling of starting a tank up and having endless options on what I could do with it. I can't wait to see this thing covered in coral.

Other than removing chaeto does anybody have any ideas for raising nutrients? I'm still fallow for about three more weeks thanks to an outbreak of Brookynella.

Turn skimmer way down or off. Remove the filter sock put more poopers in the tank

This is what I’m using -

It took me a while to realize this, but how long is your refugium lighting period? You can lower the intensity and shorten the cycle until you get to the point you are just keeping the chaeto alive, but not getting any substantial growth from it. Once you get fish back in there, you can start to ramp back up on both as needed.

I'm only running a photoperiod about two or three days a week and it's for 12 hours. My skimmer hasn't been running in about 2 weeks. Unfortunately the grow light I'm using works very well in my Chaeto is still huge. I guess I could just leave the light off for a week at a time and see what happens.

Cut the ball in half or even a third , keep feeding and check it in 72hrs , then adjust the photo period

Been awhile since I updated. Been up for about 8 months now. I've got the 120 sitting in another room but it looks like we're going to be moving so I'm going to wait to set it up
