Well let the fun begin! Picked up this 80g Deep Blue yesterday from another member and it will be our first actual build. It will be awhile before it’s ready to be cycled but we will take it one step at a time. We plan on buying as much equipment as we can from other members before our LFS or online. This won’t be its final resting place, the Christmas tree is where I want it to be right now. Wish us luck!

Best of luck. Almost pulled the trigger on this one. Nice tank and I had the rimmed version before. I won’t be ready for a awhile. Glad to see it’s getting set up, can’t buy deep blue anymore.

Thank you! We saw we wanted a Deep Blue but realized it was going to be hard to find one. So we jumped on this one.

Told y’all this one was going to be a long project lol. We finally got our stand and sump for the tank next will be return pump and plumbing. We decided to make this tank our 80 display/frag tank

Sump is in with the return pump; guess it’s time for some plumbing.

Plumbing has begun! Between Home Depot and Atlanta Aquarium we found all the parts we needed. Nothing is in it’s final spot yet, just trying to get a feel on how we want it laid out.

Well we were hoping to have the plumbing completely done this weekend but we didn’t realize the drain pipe is a different diameter than the return. 😕 Guess we will be making a run to Home Depot tomorrow.

Return is in! A lot of learning is going on with this being our actual first build; not one that was set up and go. Still waiting on a part to get the drains going but we are slowly getting there. 776E41DE-1A79-484C-9C48-8630F07C7EDE.jpeg

Drain is in!! Can you tell we lead a very busy life and can only do a little bit at a time. But we are making progress now to cement it in place, do a final cleaning and get her filled up. 3420D8FA-E1E5-4F26-A886-FAC4378A7B53.jpeg

1 thing I noticed.

On your return, you have 2 options.

1. Install a 1 way gate/swing/check valve
2. Ensure when you lose power your sump won't overflow b/c of the lack of said valve.

Save yourself time and heartache and spend the $20.00 on one! Hard to tell from the photo but looks like 1" pvc

You can pick one up at Pure Reef, and I am sure other LFS carry them, they are essential.

Looks great outside of that!

Thank you!! It’s those little tips are why I love this group. The experience in this group is fantastic and helps us newbies stay in the hobby.
