I'm getting used to coming home on the weekends and looking at my tank to see what/who went missing while I was away for the week. Normally it's really depressing. Last night, for a change, while I was feeding the 55G tank I was very happy to find one of my Flaming Prawn Gobies moving around the bottom in the rock work! I haven't seen them at all since I had to breakdown the nano last year! I moved them in to the 55G that was originally my refugium and then became home to the rest of my pairs that had been in the 65G tank. It was great to know that at least one of them is doing well!

Here is a pic of one of the fish from when I originally got them back in 2008.

Cool but secretive little fish!

I agree. It was great when I had them in the nano since it sat on my desk and the only ones in the tank were the sexy shrimp and the flaming prawn gobies. I saw them all the time, they were always out hunting for food and displaying. I really miss that little tank!

I've read that due to their tiny size that they are quite timid and have a tendency to go into hiding resulting in death by starvation.

that IS SUCH a double edge sword...

you must create a lot of hiding places for the fish to feel comfortable (and thrive) however in doing so, you often don't see them...

awesome fish. this give me hope that one day mine will reappear... but still doubtful

james, if my tailspot female was still around I'd give you the pair to keep trying to get them past meta. Right now my broodstock is pretty decimated. I still have three pairs of Bangaii, one of which is holding now. Other than that, my PJ and Blue-streak seem to still be laying eggs fairly regularly. The Green-banded stop laying eggs when I moved them to the 55G (so far as I can tell) but when Allison comes to visit they come out and do the vodoo dance (she has some affect on them, perhaps explaining her screen name) but I have not seen any eggs. Not too much else happening...

Bob, I have a special place in my heart for gobies, and this is one of my favorites!! Glad to hear the good news!

Why does it always seem like the coolest fish are the ones that want to disappear and stay hidden all the time
