So I was tired of seeing all the light bleed in my living room when I was trying to watch TV or playing Madden NFL 12. So I decided to build a canopy for the 60 cube. It turned out pretty good for being my first. It sure makes the tank look like a whole new tank.

thanks guys. it looks better in person. i tell you it took plenty of budlight to get it where it is. the wife didnt like that part but likes it now that its finished... lol

Awwww see there is your first mistake. When doing a build like this the proper "material" selections are paramount. For a project like that, it requires Icehouse not But Whipper Lite.

Oh did I forget to mention the bud light was just a chaser. I was also sipping on apple pie moonshine. Yes after the apple pie I had to recut one of the sides the next morning. Lol

Lucky it was just the board that was mis cut. Don't want you going around "high four'ing" folks, lol.

It looks great in person, great job!

You know the funny this is that as I sit here on the couch, i keep waiting for it to fall apart. So far it's holding together. Lol

I think the canopy looks awesome. My wife just saw the pics over my shoulder. Now I am building a canopy this weekend. I'll start with mill lite and see where that gets me.

Well so I have to tell this story cause I had no idea. So I got to the point where I was ready to chaulk the canopy and had a little to much to drink. I Did not have any chaulk at the house but low and behold I found a tube of aquarium chaulk. So, I use it and it looked great. Well, I let it dry Over night and go to paint it the next day. Found out the hard way, it was not paintable. So I spent a couple hours scraping it all off and starting over.

The chaulk would give the edge (the base board and chair rail) a finished look when u paint it.

let me know when you run out of apple pie!
My office manager sells apple pie and peach cobbler to supplement my not paying her
