has anyone put a thermal switch in there hood to operate fans when hood or water temp rise to max limit. i'm going to be building a new stand and hood and have been thinking along these lines. i could buy a ac thermastat, but they are low voltage, and the fan 110v. how can it be done? i'm sure i will be enlightened. :yes: thanks

Home depot carries something that turns attic fans on when the temp reaches a certain threshold which is adjustable.
I don't know how low the voltage is on an AC unit, but you would need a relay circuit of some sort. Essentially, the low voltage turns on the relay which turns on the high voltage. Hope this helps.

The duct stats that Grouper refers to can be low voltage (24v and below) or line voltage (120v) If you go that route make sure you get one rated at least 120 volts. You can also go with a baseboard heater type thermostat. They are line voltage. But the simplest way to go would be to ask for someone in the HVAC department at HD or Lowes show you all of the line voltage stats they have in stock. They will have several types. The real key is to be sure you are comfortable with the wiring of it. It isn't hard but still.......
