just lost:sad:

If you have an Ick problem, the last thing you should do is get a tang (or any other fish right this moment, but especially not a tang)!

I'd crank the temp up just a bit to 78 at least and do a waterchange or two..... If for no other reason than to remove the bad ju-ju of a dead fish.....

no dead fish have done water change i have a few corals and a purple anemone will raiseing temp affect them

Raising the temp wont hurt anything at all, just do it over an hour or two.

What size tank are we talking about? How long was it setup? What filtration? What fish do you have in the tank/how many?

I am a noobe here but, in my opinion, the best advice you can get right now is to not do much of anything at the moment. From what I have seen in your posts, you are trying to tackle too many problems at once. What I would do if I were in your shoes is the follwoing:

1. Get all fish in a QT and start observing them closely. Treat disease that becomes evident one at a time but only after getting good advice from experienced people whom I trusted. From all I have seen, you can't go wrong listening to the better know people on this site if you Do What They Say.
2. While the fish are in QT, I would attack one item at a time in the tank itself. Again, only after getting lots of good advice from people I trust on this site.
3. I would prepare myself for some slow going for a while. It isn't going to get corrected overnight and I better be prepared to accept that or I will battle these problems until the day I give up on the hobby.

don't quit man.. lose your mind.. fine.. but don't quit
this hobby can be REALLY frustrating haha but you can do it.

while i agree w the above statements, i would be slow to pull things out and QT them if they are established in your tank. keep in mind moving stuff around causes a LOT of stress.. on the fish AND YOU.

IMO... try and stabilize things. check parameters.. temp... alk... trites and trates.

over the next week pull things into line as to where they should be.

GOALS
Temp 77-79
ALK 8-10 dkh
Contaminants 0
Figure up what dosing schedule you need to keep things in check.

Dont be concerned with Ca, Po4, or Mg if you're just getting "your feet wet"

Try to keep THINGS SIMPLE for now.

if you know this stuff pls dont take offense.. just stating what has helped me :)

feel free to pm me if i can help

Edit: also... and i know its added cost... make SURE you're using RODI water. IMO it is as important as a skimmer for long term success (yes I know it can be done without but.. meh)

i have moved the clown that looks like it has ick
i will watch it and hopefully he will get better
i dont have a sump i have a fluvul 404 canister filter
i justed cleaned the foam filter in it and put new parts in it to make the max flow
all my other fish look fine
corals looking good
anemone looks great
the only meds i have put in the main tank is stuff that was reef safe to try and kill the hair algie
i have a hob skimmer that makes micro bubbles in the tank i think it is stressing the fish so i turned it off
i have a in the tank uv sterilizer it is for a 75 gallon tank (thats my tank size also)
i have 220 watts of t5 lighting
2 water fans. one on each side
there are only 4 small fish in the tank i would say they all are only 3inch long each
i am never going to let it whoop me NEVER lol
looking atm for a larger tank so i can built it in the wall with a sump
but i have always had a really bad hair algie problem tangs use to keep it reasonable but since my drastic tank crash its winning the BATTLE but i am sure in time iI WILL WIN SOME HOW lolol
thanks for all the support from all the people here that have been trying to help with all my problems (and stressing SLOW down)
i have had this tank for over a year and it crashed before christmas so i guess its like starting all over again which i cant stand lol
sorry to have all the problems but i guess i was just venting my fustractions earlyer any advice on killing the algie its my main problem atm
sorry and thanks david

We've all been where you're at now (only, I specifically remember using SpellCheck :) ).

Nothing happens fast, except the bad stuff, and at the end of the day, when it's all said and done, hair algae is kind of cool to watch too.......

Have fun, that's what it's about!

Red leg hermits (not scarletts) along with your tang will devour some algae, but that will just mask an issue.

I'm with Kota.

Get it setup, cleaned up and let it run for a while without any drastic changes. There arent any miracle cures for hair algae, just exporting the nutrients that it feeds on and management of anything going in.
