Office still not getting painted. But, I spent time with my AC Jr. this week trying to figure out how to use the External Switch feature to monitor water level in the sump and to control the pump for my top off.

You need the AC Jr. with serial connection, an ATO switch, and the serial cable.

I very carefully cut through the insulation at the AC Jr. end of the serial cable and connect the float switch wires to the wires. The External Switch Out wire will already be connected to pin 8 of the DB9 connector, and should also connect to your float switch. The External Switch In wire is unconnected in the DB9 end of the cable, and should connect to the other wire of your float switch.

To sense if the switch is open or closed in the program you would do
something like this:

If Switch1 OPEN Then FOO ON
If Switch1 CLOSED Then FOO OFF

Not very complicated... see the attached drawing.
