I have some GREEN acans and it looks like something purple is covering them. NOT like red slime though. The purple looks a coraline algea color and as if it is somehow becoming part of the actual acan....is it dieing?

Are you using MH? Some MH lighting based on the bulb and the glass cover will allow or not allow certain UV lighting to affect the corals. In turn, some corals will turn green when typically purple and vice versa. I've heard a lot of stories about the Pheonix bulbs (which I use) causing purple acros to turn green. I have a purple acro now that is about half and half to support this theory. It used to be all deep purple under a different bulb.

hmm i am using MH lighting and I switched to Pheonix bulbs about 2 months ago....maybe thats it?
i liked the green :(

A purple acan would be a rare thing and probably valuable. Might not be a bad thing to have happen. Greens are plentiful.

How about a pic?

well actually on second look it looks more like some sort of purple tissue covering it...
to me it really looks like coraline algea is trying to take over. it doesnt look too healthy.

There are some purple/green acans out there, I had one and got it from Einstein Aquatics. Is that how the acan always looks? Doesn't look "normal", they should inflate and look squishy, not be shriveled up.
