it's not a bad thing. just squirt some brine, mysis, cyclopeeze, or zooplankton at them and watch them grab it. it'll really speed up growth rate, too.
Yes and no if no fish nip at them and the water is good they will have them out all the time. Which can suck because it will cover up some of the color. If you get a fish that likes to nip at the polyps they will stay closed. The ones in my display do not open for long during the day because the swallow tail angels come and nip at them. The one in my frag tank are open all day long.
so what you are saying is get a fish to nip at them...j/k...i wish they were always closed as they look amazing...so it does mean that i do have good water quality?
mine single acan. lol is always open.. the only time he closes is if i squirt some food at him... i even have an angel fish, pic for reference is below... but the fish doesn't bother it or any other corals for the matter.

I'm not sure what it was doing here... i call it the Swollen Nipple (i was bad when I named it)
ah its ok not camera worthy right now...maybe after i get my kalk going and a bit more growth...thats why i don't have any full tank shots are here...for the suspence...so i can talk all kinds of crap and no one know wether or not i even have a tank...hell it could just be a freshwater tank...na i will prob use you when i do get everthing runnin in tune...maybe future totm
mine do the same. I feed them every 2 days and the 30 min after they eat is the only time their tentecals are in. They would eat 3,4,5 times if i let them.
