I'm in the process of aquascaping and looking for some acrylic rods. I've found some on McMaster-Carr for pretty cheap,

McMaster has rods starting at 1/2" diameter, which would be fine. Even 3/8" would probably be OK.

Also, should I use multiple pieces of rod for each rock for better support? Lastly is there any other place to get rods, I don't make it to that part of town very often? If I have to make the trip over there I will ;)[/QUOTE]

Hobbytown in Kennesaw has Acrylic rods it has been awhile since I bought some and I can not remember the size but they worked great for me. I think a pk was 9.00
Good luck

Thanks, I'll stop by on my way home today.

I just looked online and they're 1/4", 10pc, for $6.

I've got a 4', 3/8" rod that I never ended up using. You're welcome to it if you want.

Thanks but it's a bit of a drive over to Lawrenceville for me, I do appreciate the offer.

In store it was a 5pack for $4. It looked like a white plastic compared to acrylic?

I found this at HD, reading on reefcentral most recommend fiberglass over acrylic. Does it matter it has orange paint on it?

Works like a charm. and easy to cut with a hacksaw or circular/miter saw as well. I've got a bunch that have in my tank for over a 18 months maybe,Still not done with the rest. You can use epoxy or hydraulic cement to secure and fill in gaps as well.
