Acrylic Sheets

Anyone know the best place to get acrylic sheets? I was thinking of doing a custom sump and frag tank.

not sure if they are the best but lowes and home depot should have some. ive used what lowes has for building baffels in sumps and making sock holders and it worked pretty well

Hmmmm I didn't even know they had it. It Atleast thick enough. Speaking if thickness, shouldn't 1/3 be plenty thick for like 20 - 40 gal?

yea you should be fine with 1/3" but i would eurobrace it or put a brace running the width in the middle just to be safe more so if you're doing a 40

I would try a local glass company. Here in Athens I went to Quality Glass for my DIY acrylic top.

Also try a local sign shop, they may be able to order some in.

If you need some help I've done some simple structures (very simple, like overflow boxes), and have a table saw, router and stuff like that. Let me know if I can help.

Check with bdwhite he gave me a quote on acylic sheet not too long ago.

Ok. I've made one sump. But I just made the baffles out of some spare acrylic. I know I can order it, but I'd much rather just pick it up locally. Apparently HD and Lowes only has thin stuff. Like .222, but that's just what a family member said. Also. I found a add on Craigslist for a glass frag tank 36x24x13 fit 125$ pre drilled ofc. This sound like a good deal?

If it was me and you can wait, Petco does a dollar per gallon sale a couple of times per year (up to 55 gallon I think), I've got some glass bits for the holes. ;-)

Whaa woowww, never heard of this.......what does that include? like reef ready tanks? or just standard tempered glass....surely not like biocubes and stuff

Just regular rectangular black framed tanks, good for smaller sized tanks and sumps, I picked up a 40b from them last time.

No, the only ones I've seen are Aqueon line, I pick up a 40 gallon breeder and drilled it. There are a few sizes in there. They do the sale a couple of times a year. Should be time soon ;-)
