Ok here is the problem. We had an acrylic tank we tried to polish. Started with 600 grit sandpaper to remove scratches. Then moved to 1500grit, then 2000 grit sandpaper and finished with Plastix headlight and acrylic polish with a buffer. The scratches are pretty much gone but the acrylic is semi cloudy not cystal clear. Anybody got any ideas how to clear it up?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

pm blakejohn, I know he has done a few, you may have to buff with something I'm not sure

600 grit to 1500 grit is your problem im betting. Ive never did acrylic but when polishing aluminum you go 600 ,800,1000,1500,2000

I was told (with mine) it will always be foggy looking if you use sand paper. So I did not use it on mine. I just used the Novis kit and it worked very well.

I used micro mesh. If you google it you will find that they have numerous kits for less than 50 bucks and all do the same thing some just come with bigger sheets. I would suggest trying that. I did and the tank turned out great. It was really scratched bad.

+1.
I am curious if anyone has ever used an aqua buffer type polish...anyone? It's like wet-sanding but with paste. I have used it polishing out micro-fine composites and composite molding. It leaves up to a 5000 grit finish with out to much work and burning.

Need to keep on polishing. I picked up a 210g that was scratched up real badly for $80, was well worth the price but it took several days to get it nice and clear. I used the novus kit and a car buffer to speed up the process.

Here's what I'd get if I were you.....look at NC78-1.... It goes all the way to 12000 grit. I have used this and it works great. it also comes with a product to get rid of the haze from polishing acrylic
