adding sand to fuge

i want to add about 2 more inces to my fuge could i just lay it all on top of it or is there another way about doing it thanks

When I set up my fuge I was told that once set up you should only at about 1/4" at a time. Don't know the reasons this is just what I was told.

Nope, it is when adding sand too. you do not want to add more then 1/4" to 1/2 at a time. This is because it changes the oxygen level in the sand and will kill the bacteria (and micro plants) that is living in the sand bed. You have to give them time to move and adjust.
