Ok, just added my Achilles Tang to my 300 last night. He has been in qt for about 7 weeks. Existing tangs include dussimer (largest fish in the dt), clown (smaller than Achilles) and blue tang (very small). I have found the best way to add a new fish is late at night when every other fish has bed down for the night. Give them a chance to calm down before the hazing.

What are some other methods you have had success with when adding a tang after you have an established tang in the dt.

I have a plastic storage crate with holes in the sides and bottom. (Purchased at Walmart for less than 5 dollars). I wire-tied the lid on and float all new fish in that for about a week. This allows all introductions to be made and aggression to be expelled without harm to either fish. By the time the fish is released, all others are use to the new fishes presence so the hazing never occurs.

I've posted numerous pics on the glass of the fish I'm adding, leave them there for a week and then add the fish. I added my achiles last into a sea of tangs and it adapted well without incident. I tried your method and it didn't worked for me. they made chop liver of the new addition.

Ditto.. Pics plastered on the tank for a week worked good when I introduced my Tusk & Kole Tang

Best of luck with the tang. I would love to get one

Keep the lights off for 2 or 3 days. Tie a piece of nori to a rock and place it in the new tang's comfort zone/new home/hiding place so that it gets some sort of nutrients. Keep the usual clip full for the other established fish and add plenty of other foods for them so they do not challenge the new comer for food as badly. Keep in mind to up the water changes/filtration during this.
Last but not least...pics or it didn't happen
