Not my tank but seen this on another forum and hoping you guys can help.

Tank is a JUWEL LIDO 120 with internal filter system, Instant Ocean 400 P.Skimmer, external tetratec ex700.
My water (salted) i get made up from the LFS

Parameters are pretty bad and im daily changing water, but its costing a small fortune.

PH 8.0
NH3 / 4 <1.5
NO2 - 0.3
N03 - 100 !!!!

Stock i had was - 1xSS Goby, 1xBlenny, 2 Clowns, 1xTomato Clown, 1xBoxer Shrimp, 2 Chromis, Damsel, 2xSS Starfish, 6xBlue hermits, 4 Algie eating hermits, 2 tubro snails.

Left with, 1xBlenny, 1x Tom Clown, 1xChromis, 1xDamsel, 4 hermits (2blue 1 algie)

Mixture of Live and Ocean Rock

The power head is the one that come with the Juwel internal filter.

Gonna try and add a few pics

like i said i wanna get my parameters back,

What do you guys suggest??

First thing is "Prime" for the water and the fishies. Then massive water changes!

Then figure out the cause. Overfeeding? Bioballs? Sponges that haven't been washed since the system was set up?

Some of those parameters could be due to dead fish... but I gotta ask, how long has the tank been up?

Just wanted to make sure you hadn't stocked an uncycled tank. No offense, don't know you so just wanted to start from square one. Water changes are definitely your friend, and as au01st said, Prime will help bind the ammonia to help protect your livestock from its toxicity. You have a nitrate factory going on somewhere; I'll write the ammonia off to the dead fish. The questions about bioballs, sponges etc were good ones as both can put out a ton of nitrates.

yeah dont worry not my tank mines just got 5 hermits in at the moment and we're all good on params so far.

This just off another forum and by time that gets enough people online to work it out the remaining fish will probably be dead so thought id ask here

120 litres... *way* overstocked. That's ~31.7 US gallons

Lido 120
Decor: Dark-Wood, available also in

* Black
* Beech

Volume: approx. 120 Litres
Measurements: 61 x 41 x 58 cm
Product code: 11700

How much do you feed and how often? How much water do you change and how often?

Based on what's left, that's probably about a full load of livestock.

OP is in the UK and Juwel is a European brand.

Tetratest liquid kits (not the strips) and i test PH, NH3 / 4, NO2, N03.

Last fish loss was just before xmas

My external filter has the standard filters that come with it (Tetratec EX700) i have changed all of the sponges once in this and i clean them all monthly. (This is the what my good lady also continued with while i was away) Same applied to my internal filter.

I feed them on small amount of flake every other day and frozen brine/garlic once a week

All dead fish i beleive are removed.

I was doing 50% water change daily

Never tested the salinity, (mainly as i dont know how too) water has always been supplied by LFS and i have not done any tests on that.

Rgds,
Morph.

Well the high nitrates are likely from the crazy high bioload that existed before the "crash".

The crash may have come about from high nitrates OR it may have originated with a salinity issue.

Knowing the specific gravity is imperative. Purchase a hydrometer, or preferably, a refractometer.

When you top off the tank for evaporation, are you using fresh or saltwater?
