Zoa, mushroom ( with a few exceptions ) and Xenia are the standard starter cor due to their relatively cheap prices and ease to keep.

+1 on these. What type of light do you have on your system? How long has it been up? As stated the everyday Zoas should be good and basic mushrooms and xenia but be careful with Xenia, this one can grow and grow fast before you know it you will have it everywhere.

Check out Reefworks, he is a sponsor on here and you can get some nice starter corals for great prices. Go to the sponsor area and look up Reefworks, he has some nice stuff up now, just pay attention to anything under $30 :O

Come see me I'll hook you up with shrooms, and xenia and zoas and well whatever.

Nothing to fancy, but I have some shrooms and some zoas that I need to thin out.

Once u get a few "softies" as we call them and hold on to them for a month or two you are probably safe to get some LPS stuff as long as u maintain. I've found on multiple occasions frogspawn, hammer, and torch varieties at 10$ a head and their pretty neat.

i the tank is a 120 high it's been up about 4 months we have a 6 bulb t5's on the tank there is pair of clowns a mono argentinis and two timid convict damsels 150 lbs of rock at least and a 3 in sand bed

If your params are good and your past cycle u can pretty much keep most corals under that light as long as the bulbs are good.

As mentioned, softies are probably the easiest corals to keep straight off the bat with the exception of some Ricordia (I can't keep a yuma ric to save my life. FL ric's, all day long but a yuma is like lighting a $50 bill on fire).

Mushrooms (including FL ricordia)
Devil's hand / finger leathers
Cabbage coral
Toadstool
Kenya tree***
GSP***
Xenia***
Zoanthids

*** all of these corals marked *** have some caveats. Kenya trees drop 'babies' and reproduce like mad. To the point that you should easily be able to get one for free or VERY cheap. Do not pay much for them. And consider that they can be hard to eradicate and very prolific on reproduction.

***GSP & Xenia as mentioned can over-run a tank if not isolated, so be careful there or at least consider the possibility that your tank could be filled if left unchecked.

Toadstools are awesome because they can grow HUGE and look beautiful IMHO. Same thing with mushrooms. You can get some very colorful mushrooms quite cheap.

All of the above is VERY easy to care for and has minimal lighting requirements.

If you wanted to dabble into stony corals, start with some CHEAP LPS corals like Trumpets / Torch corals or birdsnest. Very easy and minimal requirements.

If you ask before and abled to attend the meeting, the members here will probably flood ur tank with generosity.

Jeff, where do u find cheap torches? I always find them higher than the average coral.

you should post here specifially what coral you are thing about and also on it's care....there are no corals that you should have at this point that should require target feeding....
