So while looking at some of my corals today I noticed tiny little like pods on a lokani frag. Started looking at several of my other SPS corals and noticed them on a validia as well. Pretty sure they're red bugs, though I've never had them.

Looking into purchasing some Interceptor tabs tomorrow to treat with. Just looking for some advice on treatment from folks that have successfully beat these little buggers.

Check melvsreef. There are pretty good instructions. Just remember to take your inverts out.

Apparently they are still going around

There is some debate about doing only one dose due to the fact they may give live birth. However, in my experience the 2 or 3 times that I did that I have had a recurrence of red bugs. I do not know if I reintroduced them at two of those occasions.

I do know, that the last time that I went with one dose, I had a reoccurrence without any new sps reintroduced.

The last time that I treated, I treated twice, I have not seen one since.

That's a good point.. I was reading through another forum today on the treatment of them and ran across the argument if live birth vs eggs. I'll be doing some more research and picking up the tabs tomorrow. Found a vet that has them in stock. One vet was telling me that the company was bought out and may not be selling Interceptor any longer. Scary thought.

I know that this has the potential to kill my hermits, shrimp and possibly snails. Is it toxic to urchins though? I have two currently and would hate to lose them.

Thoughts?
