Found this little something on a piece of branching hammer i just got from a friend. The coral has obvious points where it is growing new branches...but this seems to be something different. Aiptaisia hitchhiker?

I'd scrub off that bit of algae while you can. New toothbrush works well for that - soft bristles. (Don't repurpose an old toothbrush, fluoride is toxic).

It could be a button polyp (palythoa or zoanthid) hard to say. If you're in doubt, get rid of it.

Nope. First time I've heard about dipping corals. Will read up on that. Thanks.
Btw, the mystery "thing" had jumped off onto the sandbed this morning---possibly a majano anemone? I siphoned it out with a turkey baster and got rid of it. Also scrubbed the algae off...

Good deal, always dip and inspect when you can. Will save you from problems in the future, I use revive or coral rx with good results. It's pretty crazy to see some of the stuff that comes off of the corals when you dip. I dipped a frogspawn that had about 50 flatworms on it.
