Ok, how much is normal? Should it be noticeable each day? Do I just need more snails? I only have 5. I came back after 9 days and didn't have too much but I do get a little each day.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Was beginning to wonder if this was a taboo subject or something. It has gotten better.

Been using a tooth brush for the waterline but is there anything better?

I use a razor blade. 5 snails seems a little low depending on your tank size of course.

He has a BioCube, depedning on what kind 5 is about right. Because your tank is "new" you will expirence more algae than a mature system. As it ages it should subside granted your husbandry is up to par and your exporting what your putting in. My 200 has been up for 4 months and I still have to clean the glass 1-2 a week.

Magic eraser. Use the plain classic version with no additives

Thanks Goethe replies guys. I have a mag float bit it scratches the glass all up around the water line. Hence the tooth brush. I may just fabricate something to extend the brush. Would adding a protein skimmer help? I'm currently changing out ~4 gallons every 1.5-2 weeks. My ammonia and nitrites have been zero for a month. Nitrates got up to ~15 right before I did a water change and put in the cleanup crew. Since they've never been above 5.

Maybe I'm just anal. I like the glass to be spotless.

Oh. And I'm ok with the maintenance. Just wanted to make sure that it's somewhat normal.
