there is this one rock in my tank that is covered in all different types of algae. (bubble algae, hair algae, and lots of it) I was wondering can I freshwater dip the rock and scrape off all the algae into a bin or will that cause problems when I put the rock back in the tank?

pull it out, scrub it with a NEW CLEAN brush and you should be good. emerald crabs eat bubble and some hair, they seem to love bubble though.

wouldnt do a dip just rinse, someone paid to much attention at the meeting lol(thats a good thing).

Freshwater dipping really won't do much. It's best to pull it and remove as much as you can...then do a dip in tank water or even fresh just to "rinse" the remaining algae follicles off the rock so they don't get back into the tank.

Ok I will do that tom. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't make my tank cycle or anything like that.
Thanks everyone, Diane
