why would I lie to you? I think it's the best 1 out!...lol it comes in a nice black plastic box, to protect the chemicals from light, very nice kit

I like both Red Sea and Elos for AlK. They seem to be very close to each other. Red Sea is easier though. For Cal, I prefer Red Sea. But, in my opinion the Red Sea Mag kit is garbage. I will only use Elos for that.

Is your pro different than mine?

I have the API, but also double check it with the Seachem Mag kit which comes with the Alk also. However, i did buy an Elos pH kit the other day and liked it. So i may switch it to Elos. See how the rest of them work.

Mine says pro and uses a red liquid that turns blue but I have never seen it turn red again. Doesn't indicate that in the instructions either.

I perceive it to be a shade of red, kind of a dirty red. what color would you call it? the laminated piece of paper that comes with the instructions on it shows you the color it's supposed to turn.

Blue. LOL. When you say it turns from red to blue and back to red it makes me wonder if you are stopping short. When I and a drop it turns blue until I mix by shaking and then it goes back to blue. However that is not a completed test. You need to go until it STAYS blue even after it is mixed. Then read the amount used and compare to the chart.

That didn't come out right. LOL. But basically, the test is not complete until it stays blue. At least that is the way I took it.

I don't believe you're right rich, the test is over when it turns a dirty red, or that's what my instructions say. and it's a Red Sea Pro alkalinity test kit, in the black plastic box.

You are absolutely right. I stand corrected. LOL. I was confusing it in my mind (what little bit is left) with the Cal. I had to go pull it because i was so sure. I was ready to take a picture and post it. :-).

yeah I test my tank twice a week, I got the ending color down pat!!

Hanna AK hand held checker. Uses colorimeter and can purchase reagent solution for $9.99 for 25 tests that's $0.04 per test after intial investment of $50 for the unit and reagent solution.
