What are some things that cause alk to drop daily? Like 1dkh

I'm running a kalk reactor... Not really adding anything else to affect the buffering.......

I just got done having my water double checked..... magnesium at 1900 calcium at 700.....dkh at 6.8 and ph at 7.8! I know crazy low. The only thing we could think of is CO2 making ph drop and making my substrate break down. I do NO dosing whatsoever and literally barely ever have to do a WC.....until today.

However, I can assure you people are going to ask. "What kind of test kit are you using?" And what are the other params?

is that why you started running a reactor? I know that dkh and ph are correlated. Have you had any ph swings real low?

You may want to start adding a carbonate buffer. Kalk focuses mainly on calcium.

I had the same issues and the only thing I could figure out, since I wasn't dosing was the CO2. Mine was 7.8 as well. The ballast was heating up the room and since it was the last room from the air conditioner it got kinda hot and doesn't have good insulation in the ceiling. My whole family spends all our time in the room so, I opened the door and window and it came up significantly.
