Why is this BTA doing this? It normally does it once a day and then goes back to semi normal looking (2nd pic) after a few hours. Its been doing this for months. It was in a different tank with more lighting and more flow and I thought maybe something was annoying it, so I moved it to another tank but it still acts the same way.

I've tried feeding it different things, but I'm not sure if it took anything or not. It was in a tank with halides and not its in a bio cube 29 with stock PC lighting.

Im no expert but that looks normal. They deflate sometimes, I am sure there is a scientific reason why but I don't know it.

I would say as long as your nem is keeping its color (not bleaching) it is fine.

So apparently this is normal? Guess I just wasn't expecting to see this daily.

It's just pooping. No need to worry. How often do you feed it?

If it didn't like the lighting or flow, it'd just move around until it found a location that it liked. If the lights were too bright, it'd move under a rock. If not bright enough, it'd move up on the glass closer to the light. Just make sure it stays away from powerheads...

I havent tried spot feeding it in awhile but I know its gets some brine everyday when I feed the fish. It hasn't moved in awhile and when it did, it moved about an inch away. There is just the stock bio cube pump in the tank so no worries about power heads.

You'll be just fine. As long as it doesn't start loosing color, just let it be...

BTW: Beautiful specimine...

Just re-read your post. If it starts bleaching, you may want to look into some more powerful lights, or at least a powerful LED strip. BTA's aren't the most needy anenome, but, they need good light either way...

Best of luck, and keep us posted!!!

Well I think I'm just going to leave it for the moment... I had it under 2xMH 150's and 4 54w t5's and it did the same thing so I don't think its a light issue. Hopefully its just annoyed about being moved around and will start to behave if I leave it alone.

Maybe its annoyed the two clowns that sleep 2 inches from it won't touch it.... I know it annoys me :)

LOL. Hang in there... I'm sure it'll work out...

I just checked out your information, and one Engineer to another, it's hard to leave things alone until they are just right, and within parameters, isn't it? LOL...

BTW: I ride bikes too. GSXR-1000 (and about to add a Suzuki Volusia to my collection). What do you ride?

Well I will just have to find something else to become obsessed about...

I've had a few GXR'ers and CBR's but at the moment I have a BMW K1200S.
