another RO/DI question

ok but wouldnt the crabs be getting their mits on these too?
how often would you reup on pods if you had one in a 45?
i just dont want anything to starve to death. thats a bad way
to go imo.

does the sand sifter goby eat as much? they do look kinda the same right?
maybe she will go for one of those.

so im guessing that you would suggest this goby over the blenny for someone in my situation correct?
forgive me for showing my newbieness, but what is microfauna?
ok when i started this tank i was forced to break it back down and wash the sand. i assume i killed everything live about it. how can i refresh the "live" and make it live sand again, or can i?
most of the live rock was done the same way. long story but you might remember some of my earlier posts on the subject.

He's referring to the life in the sand for the most part.. When they sift the sand they are removing the stuff in it that can be consumed and putting the sand back down..the goby is a far better pick than the dragonettes.. Higher chance of survival in a tank that is lacking the pod population and are more easily adaptable to eating prepared foods.. Don't worry about asking questions.. That's what the club is all about.. Everyone here had to start at some point or another and we all have asked the same question or one that's very similar.. :)

Keep me updated on the AWI front..

yeah i think i killed my sand months back when i had to wash it.
i might talk her into the goby. seems better for me and the fish.
again, is there a way to refresh my sand with life?
i honestly can see there being much there after all ive had to do to it.
i'll keep ya posted doc. i just hope i can get things done pretty quick with that. buying water every time i turn around is starting to suck. its not actually the price, but then there the gas and time it takes to go get it as well. ends up costing me a chunk every month. a penny saved....... is the same penny spent somewhere else. lol

i might try the seed thing.l i'll post up to see if i can get a cup from a well seeded tank from somebody.
the fan fav in our house it bill, the engineer goby. hes pretty cool to watch. when i get my 45 set up the 27 will be his and everybody else will go to the 45 including corals. hes neat to watch. why bill you ask? he was as long as a dollar when he got his name. lol dollar bill.

Also bear in mind a Scotter Blenny is NOT a blenny, its a dragonette so you have to treat these like you would a Mandarin.

Thank you.. I was about to say it. Biggest false advertising in the hobby... Mandarin "goby" and Scooter "blenny". They are neither. Gobies are generally easy. Dragonets, not so much.

Speaking of pods, what is the easiest way to start seeding them? Where can I get them? amongst several other projects with the tank when i get home I will be making some DIY pod condos I just need a way to seed them.

There is a member here who sells them, and plenty of stores have them and you can even pick the species you get!

Any suggestions on species? Does it matter? From what i gather i should rotate condos between sump/fuge and the tank. I guess the idea is to start with a moderate quantity and let them breed like rabbits until I have a decent population? Thanks guys!
