For a tank of 60 gallons what would be a good size for a return pump?
I am starting to wonder if mine is pushing enough water at about 250 GPH
I am starting to think I need about 350 GPH
Any suggestions?

I think I use to run a MAG5 on my 55. The return can really be whatever you want...obviously not too too slow, because it's not really a main source of flow....unless you're one of the few who use a penductor or educator....but those typically are ran off of pressure rated pumps.

4x the display is my rule of thumb. This will make sure the temp between the sump and tank is similar. You are going with other PHs right?

Actually that's a different question. I agree turnover in a tank needs to be 40x plus volume but a return pump really only needs to be 4x.

If you are using the return pump as flow then obviously you increase it.

My personal display is 50x volume. :-)

That sounds right,my return is around 6x so everything else would be around 36X the volume.

Simon not sure what you mean by other PH's?
I am thinking of getting a mag 5 or a 7.
The head for the pump is a good 5' so I need a pump that will stll push a good 300 GPH at 5' of head.
For tank tornover I have 2 korilia 2's and 1 K3 so I know I have plenty of water movement in the tank.

The Koralias are what he meant by other PHs. Just making sure the return wasn't going to be your primary source of flow.
