ok-this stuff recently showed up and is being a major PITA to me. Anyone know what type of algae this is and what animals eat it?

I would say elimination of the food source(phosphate etc) but photo-period wouldnt hurt.

Might be over feeding the tank too. Scrub everything you can, big water change and add a UV

Wouldn't jump on a big water change over that... Just happens from time to time.. Cut the lights down and reduce feedings..

In our tanks we have yellow tang and lawnmower blenny great at eating algae. We also put some star snails in and they are wonderful, especially on the glass. Also helps to use ideas from the above posts to stop some of the algae before it gets out of hand.

yeah, I have a YT; it's mainly the annoying as hell algae on the glass-it's a PITA to scrape off (even w/ a razor)
