any trick to getting sun coral to fees ?

I got 6 heads 2 weeks ago and have yet to see them open up and feed , I have attempted squirting food at there mouths after dark (reef roids , mysis , and fuel) with no effect.
They still have good color so I don't think there dieing .
I did cut down the flow a bit today in hope that would help.
I just wonder if there was something more I could try.

Takes time, I'd keep putting the reef roids in and in time they should open, then feed mysis. hope it helps..

LRS Food! Either Reef or Fish Frenzy. If you have Tangs, use the Herbivore Frenzy. My Sunburst Coral love it. Feed this to your whole tank.
What store do you buy stuff from?

Be careful not to try feeding too much and increasing trates and phates to adversely affect other corals. Have you tried covering the colony with the top of a 2 liter and squirting the food in there and let it sit for 15 minutes with all flow off? If that doesn't work then just wait for the next day and try again.

If you buy sun coral heavy feeding is a given.

Mine eats anything I feed it and gets really fat but the tentacles only barely ever come out. Only once did they actually extend like they did in the tank it came from

Mix up some mysis and tank water or whatever food u use and take the suncoral or dendro out of the tank. Place it in that cup or bowl for 5-10 mins. Worked good for me. Dont have to worry about trates. Flow or anything else

Edit: That mysis and tank water goes in the cup/bowl. Just to clarify

I will look in to something along this line or perhaps removal to a secondary container , I have had concern of over feeding and affecting water quality this seems like a way to keep it concentrated without over feeding.

where is it placed in your tank.just remember that they need much light at all.mine always opens at night when the lights go off.but it normally sits under a small rock shelf out of the light only

It's sitting in about 15 par on a ledge on the outer ring of the tank , I don't believe lighting is effecting it negatively.

You may need to observe it after a few hours of darkness to see when it opens, then offer food. If it's closed up tight, it won't eat until it opens. Feed it when it's open, and over time, move the feeding time back a bit. You can condition it to open earlier - I've seen some "trained" to open during the daytime, although it takes some patience and time to get to that point.

Last night I watched it for about an hour between 2:30&3:30am my moon lighting goes off at midnight so it was rather dark , I'm going to try a soda bottle around it to keep food concentration from drifting away tomorrow morning about 5:30-6 am and see how that fairs.
