I'm rebuilding a Mag 36 and I think I'm missing a part at the bottom of the impleller. The Mag 24 and 36 are setup the same so I need for somebody to look under their impeller and see if there is something else and if there is, can you shoot me a picture of it.

Each end of the impeller shaft should have a rubber bushing. These should all look basically the same regardless of the model of Mag.

The impeller is all one unit, with the shaft and bushings, and the volute/impeller cover comes with an o-ring to seal it against the body of the pump.

Hope this helps,

Jenn

Jenn....that part I already knew. The larger Mags appear to have a ceramic spacer in the bottom that has "wings" on it that slide into a slot. This keeps the impeller from rubbing on the bottom of the housing. I think my spacer has sheared it's wings when the previous impeller and volute blew apart. That's what I'm trying to figure out. Second part will be if the spacer is bad, how do I get another one?

I opened a box with a Mag 36 impeller in it. It's still in plastic but I took a cell phone pic with it, in case that will help.

I didn't see any wings on it - just the impeller, magnet and shaft.

Yep...that's exactly what my new impeller looks like but as I said....in the bottom of the impeller chamber...there is a ceramic spacer. It may be embedded and not a normal part of the impeller.

Here's a picture of my ceramic spacer that fits at the bottom:

And here's the inside of the pump housing. You can see at the bottom where it's open with slots extending:

Hope that helps describe what I'm looking at/for.

Interesting - sorry I didn't see the update previously. I don't have anything that looks like that... And I don't have either one on the shelf right now to pull one apart to see (at least I don't think so - I may have a 24 - will have to check tomorrow. I've never seen that part on a Mag Drive though, and I've taken apart dozens of them (mostly 18 and under). Might be unique to the largest ones...

I am fairly sure that Danner has sourced those pumps from different manufacturers over the years - some models have an "A" or "B" version of the same pump. Do you know how old it is?

Jenn

Thanks Jenn. I think it's specific to the 24 and 36. Yes I knew there were 2 different 36's and there's nothing on this pump that tells me which one it is. I think the pump is roughly 3 years old. I actually got it along with a bunch of other stuff from a guy that just threw it in as part of a deal. Just trying to figure if it's worth fixing or not.

Apparently the part I have described is a seperate part from the impeller however it's not a sold/replacement part. Danner is going to send me one free of charge so that I can do the comparison and see what's what. I'll update once the part arrives.

Final update: I did contact Danner. While the piece shown above is not a purchaseable item, it is the correct part for this size pump. My piece was defective in that the center hole had wallowed out. Danner sent me 2 new ones free of charge! Way to go Danner!!!

Jenn....thanks for all your follow up. I appreciate it.
