I bought one Monday and it looks like it has not moved. I just picked it up thinking it was dead and it poked out an eyeball so apparently it is alive.

I was told that they will move around quiet a bit and help keep the sand bed clean.

Anyone have experience with them?

I had one for a while, it moved around quite a bit. They are really cool to watch sift through the sand.

If it's not dead, then I'd just leave it be and just see what it does. Maybe put it in a darker spot until it gets used to the tank.

Mine seems to find a good spot and buries himself for days at a time. Then he comes out and eats for a day or so and repeats the same process all over.again on the other side of the tank. I must have got one of the lazy ones. Lol.

Thanks for the info guys, I feel better now.

I havs a Green Knife Wrasse that has wiped out my snail population. I bet he is harassing the Conch.
I hope to remove the wrasse this weekend.

It's normal for Conchs to sit in one spot for days at a time. They spend a lot of energy to find food, and they literally will rest for days in a row. They'll often bury themselves while they rest too.

Perfectly normal.

My tiger conch move around a lot. I have him in a BB, so maybe he's constantly moving around to find enough to eat. Sometimes I feel bad and give him an algae wafer and he will stay in one place for half a day or so. BB probably isn't an optimal environment for him, but he's still alive and very active after 2 years.

I recently had to catch a wrasse that was aggresive towards my other fishes. I dont know the method you are gonna use but the trick of using the tank light in the morning and blinding them worked for me 100% of the times. Just check and see where he sleeps and next morning turn your lights on to full blast and list the rock and scoop him up using the net withing say 15 seconds or so... My wrasse started making circles when I lifted that rock. He didnt know waht was coming. :shades:

I hope to catch him with a mysis cube in the net. I had to catch a Powder Brown and Trigger that way last year and I was able to do so quickly.

I tried that with no luck ( maybe because it was those dark blue color net), and you only get one chance. Lol
If the net method don't work try the light method. :)

I shocked myself by catching the Knife Wrasse easier than expected. I was using my feeding baster to churn up my sand a bit before a water change because of a diatom problem. My Diamond Goby has not been sidting the left side of my tank for several weeks.

As I worked on the sand the Knife Wrasse was going crazy pecking at the baster because I feed mysis from it often and he was very interested in the snail shells I was bringing up. He was so distracted that I was able to simply snatch him up with one try.

Within five minutes of him going to the sump my Diamond Goby was sifting away on the bad side of the tank!
