has anyone had or have a scissortail goby? I bought one from a local shop here 2 months ago give or take normally i dont buy from the local store, not the best of quality but it was like $10 and was cool looking. Anyway the first 3 days he swam the top of the tank, after the first 3 days he found a home in some rocks and never comes out. i see him maybe 30 min after the lights are on for 10-20 min swimming, then back to the rock he goes doesnt even come out for feeding, im sure he is getting food or he would be dead by now but is this normal? from all the websites say they swim the tank in the daytime but mine dont. There are no aggresive fish in the tank 2 baby clowns, 2in regal tang. Anyway i just wanted to see if anyone elts has kept one, not really colorfull but fun to watch swim around.

I have two in my 50 gal. Do you have just one? I was told they are better off with a school of three or more. They feel more comfortable with some swim mates. I bought three about nine months or so ago. One jumped out, but the other two have done great. They are out swimming most of the day and when the lights turn off, they dart right back to their sleeping hole. I do agree, they are fun to watch. And they eat like pigs! Hope this helps.

I've been told the same thing, that a grouping is better and that they are jumpers. At the time, I didn't have a top on my set up, so I didn't get any.

o ok, i was not aware of them swiming in schools i might have to try that thanks

that sounds like my luck lol. he never comes out when I feed but is I get some close to his hole he will grab it fast. so he is eating but not sure how much
