I'm thinking of taking a different direction with my 30 hex, and would like to throw possibly all three of these guys in with a pair of bangaiis (spread out over time of course).

The tank is a mixed reef 30hex (tall not wide) tank.

I'd not looked at the clingfish before...kind of interesting.

There's an faq on wetwebmedia:

Thanks, they seem somewhat hard to keep, but an interesting species for sure.

Anyone else have anything?

I have 2 of the high fin banded gobies. I got them from Aquarium Showcase about 3 weeks ago. I my tank with a lot of other fish they stay hidden and only come out to eat. I think they are very cool looking fish and would probably do better in a smaller tank with not as much going on.

I had a high fin, and loved him. Would pair up with a pistol. At least mine did. I called mine "the mouth". He could eat food as big as his head.

I thought of that clingfish, but after further reading it is too aggressive. check out their dartfish/wormfish area. what about a peaceful jawfish?

dart fish are jumpers.

I'll look into the others.

Is the cling fish aggressive enough that if added last it would still be a pain?

we have a high fin and it has paired with a randalls pistol shrimp. Very shy and timid fish. We usually only see him at feeding time. We tried to pair him with a tiger pistol first and he would not do it. just be careful how the tank is stocked. Randalls pistol shrimps are tiny and they will be harassed. My six line wrasse chases the pair every chance he gets. (this is a recent development that started once he saw the tiny shrimp) Fortunately, they have plenty of cover and he cannot get at them.

We also had a Goby similiar to the Hectors called a Rainford. good little fish, great sand sifters. Do not put anything aggressive in the tank with them or they could stay hidden and starve. They are another shy fish that spooks easily until they are established. I would add it and the High Fin first so they can claim their territory's early.

I ended up breaking it down. running two tanks while working 46 hours a week, and going to school 12 hours a week, and having a spouse who could care less...it was tough. I wanted to set it back up, but I think I'd rather go with an all in one tank like a bio cube or the like. not sure yet.

but the hecktors goby was great. I finnally got it to eat after some time, I would recomend one, but they are known to starve themselves.

I really liked the hex, it was unique, but it did need MH, and it did stir up some unique cleaning challenges (like scraping 6 sides of glass)

Hey Rick, yea, that goby was awesome for the time I had it. I think it stressed it self from the move from your tank to my tank and died. Though he did eat and pick at the rocks. I was sad to lose him. He just didnt show up for feeding one day :(

good luck seeting up a new tank, I thought about starting another one as well.

welll...its in dry goods/ls lol

but thats the last effort I'm giving to sell it. if no one shows interest...it's getting stored for the right time. It's a great tank, I just want to see it go to use instead of make me sad looking at a dry tank in my office.. :(

sorry to hear. Its sad not having any tanks up to look at. I want to set one up, I just cannot make up my mind to which direction to go with it. Thanks for the update!
