Anyone hooked up Waterbug with Apex?

I've purchased a couple of waterbug sensors but now I'm finding out that I need the controller. I wanted to find out if any of you had been successful in hooking up the waterbug sensors to the Apex Breakout Box WITHOUT the Controller? The other question I have is if you have hooked up the sensors through the Waterbug Controller, are you able to tell which sensor triggered the alarm? I can't think of how the Controller would actually be able to communicate the exact sensor to the Breakout Box.
